in july, i added 39 games to my steam library, and here's an excessively long post about them.

honestly, i have zero regrets. between the steam summer sale and joining communities like the cozy gaming club, my steam library has gotten fat and my wishlist fatter. i don't see myself acquiring this many games in a single month like this again (although, august is looking kind of sus), but i'm a bit geeked about the collection of games i managed to get. some of these were bought for/gifted to me or were free but the bulk were bought using my hard earned money.

i was meant to have a shelf to post all my game purchases, movies watched, books read, etc but i'm a creature of laziness so instead, i'll just have to deal with this long ass list. here's a list of all the games I got my hands on in july and a brief opinion on most, if not all, of them.

the first four games i purchased were ship, inc., urban jungle, the testament of sherlock holmes, and sherlock holmes versus jack the ripper. i managed to play a little of all of the games, except for the testament of sherlock holmes and for, the most part enjoyed them. my favourite of the group is definitely ship, inc. (and it's also the one I'm closest to 100%'ing of the group) with urban jungle being second. both games are very low effort and quick to quiet my mind to.

the next games i purchased were sherlock holmes: the case of the silver earring, sherlock holmes: the mystery of the persian carpet, sherlock holmes: the awakened (remastered), and sherlock holmes: nemesis. the aformentioned sherlock games, these sherlock games, and the next listed sherlock game are not games that I'm incredibly quick to play, i mostly purchased them because similarly to nancy drew games, they tend to be very pricey and finding them for cheap outside of a sale is incredibly hard. i'd rather have them in my library in an affordable manner and then play them when I'm in a big mystery mood. i'm a big fan of sherlock and the point-and-click fun of the older games, so i'm excited to play them when I get in the mystery mood.

sherlock holmes and the hounds of the baskervilles, lost but found, mudborne, apico were my next purchases and of these, i think that my favourite is probably apico. i played apico some time ago because amazon prime was giving it away for free through prime gaming and i ended up playing it on amazon games. it's such a chill game about bees and i'm just a big fan. i've been trying to get into mudborne because it's supposed to the frog sister game to apico, by the same company, but it feels like there's far more to learn to understand the game so i'll have to come back and enjoy it.

kabuto park, froggy's battle, pummel party, and caribbean crashers are the most random games i picked up out of the bunch and probably among some of my favourites. pummel party reminds me of the mario party mini-games and allow for multiplayer so it's fun to grab a couple of friends go through it. i believe you can also play with randoms, but i haven't played it outside of with my friends. kabuto park Is super cute and incredibly relaxing. there's not too much to the game from my experince but I do fancy myself a creature collector. I haven't gotten around to playing froggy's battle or caribbean crashers but they both look fun.

moonstone island, escape from mystwood mansion, who pressed mute on uncle marcus?, and longvinter are also among some of my favourites. i played moonstone island previously so i was simply adding it to my steam library once and for all so that i can 100% . even having to restart that game, i'm still a massive fan of the aesthetic of thegame, the whole background of the game, etc. it's just a beautiful, calming game where you get to play a cute little alchemist. absolutely a big fan. escape from mystwood mansion is also a fun game! it's definitely not the best escape room game and i haven't 100%'ed it yet, but it is slowly working its way to becoming one of the better ones i've played. I'm not too deep into who pressed mute on uncle marcus so i don't have too much of an opinion on it as of yet but i do think the story leaves for potential to be enjoyed. longvinter is one of my games. I'm not a huge fan of the pvp servers but I have 28.3 hours in that game and that's saying a lot for my adhd ass. it's made even more fun when you play with friends.

electrician simulator, garden life: a cozy simulator, sticky business, and agatha christie: the abc murders were purchased next and i can't stress how much i was excited to get electrician simulator on sale. i already haa the game on epic games, but I really wanted it in steam library and i managed to get it for a great price, roughly around $2 or so. I still need to get the dlc but it has been a fun time. i love simulator games, especially these hyper specific ones (I'm a big fan of house flipper as well, for example) so this as right up my alley. that said, i, personally, don't think the game is worth the original asking price of $17.99, nor do i think the dlc should cost $5.09. if you can get it on sale, please do. it's incredibly fun but the og price tag is far too steep, in my opinion. (also, proof that i do, in fact, adore playing this game and this is just one of my runs of this game.) garden life: a cozy simulator is one of the few games i purchased in july that i didn't really enjoy to some extent. maybe I need to give it more time but I don't really find myself reaching to open the game in the same way i would a lot of the others on this list. it's a beautiful game and, from the reviews, it does seem to be a game that i would enjoy, but something isn't clicking for me. i don't regret my purchase, but i do wish i enjoyed it. unfortunately, i'm also experiencing the same issue with sticky business and this actually makes me sad. it has everything i'm looking for in a game but not enough to keep me fully interested. that said, agatha christie:the abc murders is a banger to me. i love mystery games and i grew up on david suchet's portrayal of hercule poirot, so this was right up my alley. it's point-and-click, it's puzzle, and it's mystery. big fan, happy camper. each story is a standalone story too! what fun!

cat cafe manager, packit list, beasts of maravilla island, and clue/cluedo classic were next on my purchase list. cat cafe manager is also something that i've already played and enjoyed, i just wanted to add it to my steam library. it's cute, relaxing, low-effort but there can be a bit of learning curve to it when you get a little further into the management and start to settle into the gameplay. i won't say that it stays low-effort but it does stay cozy and fun. and the catbabies are absolutely adorable. packit list and clue/cluedo classic are both games that I find myself playing to pass time but not for too long. packit list kind of gives me similar vibes to another game further down the list, assemble with care. it's very chill but quite puzzling, and goodness, it's absolutely stunning to me. clue/cluedo classic is a classic game and i feel like i don't need to explain why it's a fun and fantastic game. out of these game, though, beasts of maravilla island is probably my favourite. it combines pretty art with the energy of creature collector games but also throws plant creation in there and a bit of a bittersweet story. i'm surprised by how much fun i'm having with this game.

next on the list, the shape of things, witchy life story, manifold garden, and venba were purchased. I enjoyed every single one of these games except the shape of things. maybe I need to give it another chance; however, i didn't find myself drawn to the game compared to a lot of the other games i purchased. witchy life story is yet another game that i already played prior to purchase and just wanted to add it to my steam library and start anew. it's very low effort but you get the cutest garden, the cutest altar, and ramsey is the cutest little raven familiar i ever did see in one of these games. the character customisation is kind of fun but not too in-depth. there's a romance aspect to the game and an actual story. it's very relaxing and I recommend it if you're looking for that type of game. manifold garden actually surprised me with how much fun it is. i definitely haven't reached the end of the game but it's a physics-based puzzle and i'm having an absolute joy of a time playing it. I'm surprised that it doesn't mess with my motion sickness or my synaesthesia as much as i expected either (except with the reds—unfortunately, i can't avoid how much reds hurt.) i loved venba! i have video of my playthrough of venba that i'm currently working on getting edited. a great, short game that i wish had a little bit more to it. it comes in at just about ~1-2.5 hours of gameplay, so definitely short. i also really want to try my hand at some of the recipes in the game.

tiny garden, look inside: chapter one, look inside: chapter two, and assemble with care are next on my list but technically, assemble with care was the last game i bought last month but for some reason, i put it in the wrong order. regardless, it's my favourite of the bunch. like venba, i also have a video on assemble with care coming in the near future. i had a wonderful time with the game and even though it's short, i still think the story is beautifully told. the idea of building a story around you having to restore these items for the characters is lovely to me. i haven't gotten too far into tiny garden or either chapters of look inside but from what i have played, tiny garden is a fun, relaxing game, while look inside seems to have a bit of a learning curve that i haven't yet completely grasped.

broken age, the bookwalker: thief of tales and wavetale are the last couple of games i purchased. out of these last three, the only one i've played is broken age but it's been lsuch a long time since i've played it, that i should probably revisit it sometime soon. i've seen a couple of the people on my friend's list and in communities i'm playing the bookwalker so i'm really excited to play it in the near future. honestly, wavetable was a completely aesthetic purchase. i'm sure i'll enjoy it but i definitely bought it based it on how pretty the game looks.

although i haven't played through all of the games i bought last month yet, i'm really excited for august purchases. a lot of games that i'm excited about are coming out in the next two months.

i don't expect anyone to be reading this, so i don't really have a send off.
